➡️Each time you resize the page, random sounds will be generated—try stretching the page like an accordion to play your face!

➡️Each notation mark produces different sounds depending on its position

➡️Changing skin tones affects the pitch of sounds—experiment with various combinations!

The Project

Face Notation is an interactive facial creation tool that emerged from the CSS workshop of Declaration.

Declarations is an ongoing trans-disciplinary artistic research project exploring the poetic materiality of CSS web-standards and their echoes in design and artistic practices.

The inspiration behind Face Notation comes from traditional Chinese "痣相图"(mole phase diagram).

In Chinese physiognomy, moles are classified as "吉"(luck) or "凶"(bad luck) based on their location—only moles in the "correct positions" are considered worth keeping.

This concept mirrors CSS positioning and display properties, where correct placement is essential for proper functionality.

In this version, no matter they are luck or bad luck, I transferred the interpretation to music, play it and make your own music!
