Writings about PAPER

Ever since I was a kid I found paper a very valuable resource. It gave me the freedom to create. It could take many shapes and was the basis of many drawings and letters. At a young age I valued materials and the use of it. This appreciation for materials seems to be a topic that is more and more accepted in some communities while it still has no meaning whatsoever for others. Creating awareness could be one step onto consciously use everything around you that you can hold in your hands concerning the massive changing environment that surrounds us.🌎

Memories;

When I was around 9 years old I went to this art supply store with all these amazing materials. My parents bought me this a5 booklet with paper in all sorts of gradient prints. I still have this, I didn't dare to use it because of its beauty and the likelyhood of me not making something as beautiful as this object already was. (sidenote: 15 years later I got a job at this same store. When learning everything about materials and trips to paint factories I valued materials more and more. When I got to know more about the paper the store sells I realised I never knew before what paper was actually made of.)

Around the age of 6 I really liked to make little 2d houses out of paper with doors and windows that could open and close. I have this vague memory of sitting next to the old heater and making paper shoes for myself.

Two times a year we visited my grandparents. Because it was a long distance to travel to them I never saw them that often. These moments vititing my grandparents were always the same. My grandmother gave us kindercola and had saved the childrenspart of a supermarketmagazine. Mygrandfather asked me how school was and then we started to make things out of old flyers and folders. My grandfather was a king in making 3D objects with paper and glue. His specialisating was making witches though he was one of the most catholic persons I ever met.
