In the wild, wild SouthQuentin Tarantino, the director is exclusive, distinctive and, above all, is head over heels in love with cinema. Therefore, it's generally not very surprising that each of his films is really a love confession to cinema and just a cinema romance holiday. His films are a collection of quotes from cinematic classics, filled up with purely Tarantino dialogues, black humor, vivid and memorable characters. Tarantino's style is unique, he is not on a leash with producers, is not afraid of provocative stories, bold plot moves and does not bend underneath the politics of political correctness that's covered Hollywood in recent years. But the most important thing is that Quentin has the capacity to bring his ideas alive, his own. All his films are based on his scripts and his ideas. He doesn't churn out films like cakes, but chooses a suitable plot and works it out very carefully. The perfectionism of his films is hard to miss. It's not surprising he has firmly taken his niche in the cinema and isn't going to give it up. However, there is no-one to provide it to. For the real Tarantino-style is made only by Quentin Tarantino himself. And the point.

In our time, Western as a type has virtually died out. Unless, obviously, we don't consider isolated cases such as for instance films such as for example'Iron Grip'by the Coen brothers or'Train to Yuma'by James Mangold. And fantastic western movies like Cowboys and Aliens are a different opera. However, for Tarantino, there is apparently no such expression as'forgotten genre '. Django may be the eloquent poetry of Tarantino's love for westerns and the black-polished genre. But at once, the film raises a rather urgent problem of slavery and turns the saddest pages of US history before the viewer. That is certainly not a historical film, it is a fiction in the spirit of Tarantino, with a dose of sketch. But at the same time, this really is probably one of the very most powerful films of recent times, exposing slavery. Tarantino doesn't make fun of him, he brands this phenomenon as harshly and mercilessly as slave owners branded their slaves. Quentin, perfectly managed to strike a balance between serious and kitsch. But, nevertheless, that is primarily a Western and a just Tarantino Western. Everything which is why we love his films is here. And a couple of movie quotes, and slightly grotesque characters, respect for the genre, an abundance of humor, blood, the famous dialogues in the Tarantino style, which are far more than actions, old-fashioned special effects with no computer graphics hated by the director. Speaking of dialogues, Tarantino's films are likely one of many few in that your characters speak, significantly more than fight, shoot, explode, but this doesn't cause boredom. So this film, inspite of the length and not enough epic action scenes, looks in the exact same breath. No sagging, no boring and uninteresting scenes. The film can be very beautiful having its landscapes and tinkers with the recreated atmosphere of the time.

The actors and their characters deserve special attention. Watching DiCaprio play the notorious villainous planter is a real pleasure. His facial expressions, gestures, intonations are probably one of the most charming and brilliant villains of the year. Candy, an out-and-out bastard, who doesn't value human life in a cent, but at the same time frame, there were no excesses. You will find no insane villains in the film, Calvin Candy, although slightly eccentric, is not just a psychopath, he's artsy, gallant, and educated. He is a man of his time, and lives by his laws. Not inferior to DiCapirio and the director's favorite, Samuel L. Jackson, his character can be a villain, but again without unnecessary excesses and grotesque. And Jackson's play is merely excellent, his character even slightly wants to sympathize. Leonardo and Jackson gave such strong acting performances that Django and Schultz almost got lost within their background. Fortunately, this didn't happen, but all as a result of Christoph Waltz, who embodied the image of Dr. Schultz - a bounty hunter who hates slavery. However, Schultz is not an idealist, he doesn't seek to destroy the old system. His motivation is fairly real and his goals are achievable, but at the same time frame he is not lacking compassion and nobility. Waltz played well, he endowed his image with humor, charisma and sense of smell. Jamie Foxx deserves no less goodies, although his character is lost against the back ground of Schultz and Candy, but only slightly. Fox, within my humble opinion, more than successfully portrayed Django's smooth evolution, 123movies from the downtrodden slave to a hard gunfighter and revolver virtuoso. Kerry Washington is also good in the film, but inadequate to publish separately.

'Django is free'is what Tarantino loves and what we like him for. A beautiful film with a bright shell and tasty filling. Spaghetti Western with raised social issues and a fresh method of Westerns. Tarantino is, as always, the king of the mountain, his personal mountain.
